October Field Trip

Dear Parents,
We will be going to Tempe Performing Arts Theater on Thursday, October 14, to see "Frog and Toad".  We need to be at the theater by 10:00 A.M. for a 10:30 show.  If you would like to chaperone and/or assist with the transportation of children, please let us know.  The original plan was to take the light rail and walk to the show.  We also plan to bring a sack lunch from school and have a picnic at the park.  Admission is $8.00 per person (children and adults) and I have to pay by September 14.  There is no limit to the amount of adults that can come on this trip, but we do need to know an exact count before making payment, as the money is non- refundable.  We will be sending home a permission slip next week.  Please check your calendars and get back to Mrs. Gina or me as soon as you can coordinate your schedule.
Upon returning to school that day we have an hour of Art (which the children love) so please make sure they return to school with the class.  If you would like an opportunity to volunteer by helping our class in materials making or other necessary assistance, please let us know and we will make arrangements with you.
        Sincerely,
              Wendy Silver and Gina Ramirez

Dear Parents,
Thank you for your wonderful children.  They are a blessing!  Please select a book with them this weekend for their first book report (see homework folder, optional for first years).  Their brassica plants have started growing and we look forward to continued interest and discussions about all our science projects and experiments.  They had their first great lesson and that should inspire them to be inquisitive.  Please encourage discussion about all they did during their first full week in school. If you need to reach me, you can send a note or e mail me at: wendy.silver@phxelem.k12.az.us.
Sincerely,
Wendy Silver and Gina Ramirez

We have a wonderful 2010/2011 class!

Friday, August 6, 2010

Dear Parents,
Our first three days of school were awesome. Your children are amazing and a pleasure to have in class. We had PE, Art, and Music specials and everyone enjoyed the specials classes. We learned some new songs, morning greetings, and started math and morning routines. Children were happy to be back. First year assessments were given in reading and sight words. They will be finished next week. All students did math and had spelling preliminary assessing. Mentor buddies were assigned and ad hoc groups were established. Friday afternoon we did the first five science experiments which included the three states of matter, mixtures, and suspensions. The children were captivated. We have the best class! Thank you, again, for allowing me to teach your precious children. We are most grateful and look forward to a wonderful year!
Sincerely,
Wendy Silver and Gina Ramirez

Welcome to the New School Year 2010-11

Dear Parents of Ms. Silver’s Lower Elementary Montessori Class,

Welcome new and returning students to room 116, our very special Montessori class! I am looking forward to an inspiring year with your children and have many wonderful lessons to present. This year will be an adventure in learning and discovery!

Our back to school night is at Faith North Montessori on Thursday, July 29 at 5:45 pm. Your attendance is requested and appreciated.

Please note: No backpacks please. We will use a two-pocket home folder, which we will provide for mail back and forth to school. We need all of our classroom space and patio for working areas. Each child will use a canvas bag, which can be folded up when not in use. Please bring the canvas bag to school each day. Please do not send toys to school. Thank you.

If you have any questions
or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me after 3:20 PM at 602 257 3914 and you will be transferred to our class. Also my e-mail address is Wendy.Silver@phxelem.K12.az.us Thank you for supporting our school and your child’s learning. You are your child’s first and most important teacher.

We consider it an honor to have your child in our class. One of our goals is to inspire your children and instill a life long love of learning. We will encourage their independence while enjoying this stimulating and motivating experience!

Thank you for your continued support of your child and our school.

Sincerely,
Wendy Silver and Gina Ramirez
