About your Teacher 2013

About Your Teacher

I am so excited about the 2013/2014 school year!  This is my tenth, yes, tenth year teaching 1,2,3 grade in room 116, at Faith North Montessori.  I am an AMS trained and certified Montessori directress and have an M.Ed. in Cross-Cultural teaching.  My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Accounting and Marketing from New York University.  During this teaching journey, I have been the Grade Level Chairperson for Elem 1, a mentor teacher, led the first school wide Homework Club, held the position of PTA/ Site Council Representative, and have been deemed by the district to be a Highly Qualified Teacher.  I enjoy teaching your children and take a “Cosmic” approach to their education.  My hobbies include, but are not limited to: reading, crafts such as knitting, crocheting, tennis, and bike riding.

Supply List

I encourage everyone to attend Back to School Night on July 29 at 6:00.  If your child is a first year student in my classroom, I would like to have a New Parent meeting at 5:00.  New parents have many additional questions that I need to address and usually would like a class tour along with individual attention.  Please bring twenty dollars, if possible and yourself.  Do not purchase any supplies, please!  We do not use backpacks nor anything with logos.  Your children will be carrying canvas tote bags that they will decorate in class as part of their first in class art project.  These bags will be brought to school with them each day.

Homework will be sent home in folders that will also be distributed in class.  Homework will go home on Mondays and be returned on or before the following Monday.  Third years will be doing Buckle Down practice, price to be determined from front office.

On July 29, I will discuss all FAQ’s.. I will hold a separate meeting for new incoming first graders so that their individual needs can be addressed.  Our room parent/ volunteer spot coordinator is Kathy Brasch and our e mail parent is Glenda Wheten.  Should you have other technical questions, perhaps they can provide assistance during the school year.  A big shout out to both wonderful parents for volunteering in our classroom.  It takes teamwork to be successful!
