Presentations and Thanksgiving

Parents, your children presented their work yesterday (as well as some on Monday and Tuesday).  They were so proud and learned a great deal from their work as well as from each other.  Thank you for your active participation in their work, writing, and public speaking.  I hope you enjoyed working with them and we thank you for partnering in your children’s educational experience.

We give thanks for wonderful parents like you and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Gratefully,

Ms. Silver and Mrs. Gina

October/ November

Parents, you are amazing!  Thank you so much for your participation in International Children's Day!  With all of you ( and everyone participated and contributed) the day would not have been as memorable for the children.

I feel blessed to have all of you in my life,

Ms. Silver  :)

Please let me know if you plan to join us for the Thanksgiving feast that is prepared by the cafeteria.  I have table cloths but if there's an approximate amount of people, I can have chairs and seating for all.  :)

Report cards will be sent home with your child on Friday.  Kindly sign the envelope to show that you received it and return the envelope only on Wednesday (no school Monday or Tuesday).  You may keep the report card.

Permission slips were sent home today for the Nutcracker and the Snow Queen.  No money is necessary but both are walking trips and we must have permission slips for all field trips.  Thank you!

About Your Teacher
I am so excited about the 2014/2015 school year!  This is my eleventh year teaching 1,2,3 grade in room 116, at Faith North Montessori.  I am an AMS trained and certified Montessori directress and have an M.Ed. in Cross-Cultural teaching.  My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Accounting and Marketing from New York University., Finance minor.  I have experience in both the public and the private sector and have taught in California prior to moving to Arizona.  During this teaching journey, I have been the Grade Level Chairperson for Elem 1, a mentor teacher, led the first school wide Homework Club, held the position of PTA/ Site Council Representative, and have been deemed by the district to be a Highly Qualified Teacher. I initiated the end of year trips and coordinated the  on campus productions being brought to our campus by Childsplay Theater. I enjoy teaching your children and take a “Cosmic” approach to their education.  My hobbies include, but are not limited to: reading, crafts such as knitting, crocheting, tennis, and bike riding.

Supply List

I encourage everyone to attend Back to School Night on July 28 from 5:00-6:00.  If your child is a first year student in my classroom, I would like to have a New Parent meeting at 4:00.  New parents have many additional questions that I need to address and usually would like a class tour along with individual attention.  Please bring thirty dollars, if possible, and yourself.  Do not purchase any supplies, please!  We do not use backpacks nor anything with logos.  Your children will be carrying canvas tote bags that they will decorate in class as part of their first in class art project.  These bags will be brought to school with them each day.

Homework will be sent home in folders that will also be distributed in class.  Homework will go home on Mondays and be returned on or before the following Monday.  Third years will be doing Buckle Down practice, price to be determined from front office.  It has been about thirty five dollars for the past two years.

On July 28, I will discuss all FAQ’s.. I will hold a separate meeting for new incoming first graders so that their individual needs can be addressed.  Our room parent/ volunteer spot coordinator is Kathy Brasch and our e mail parent is Glenda Whetten.  Our Scholastic Book parent is  Penny Visser.   Should you have other technical questions, perhaps they can provide assistance during the school year.  A big shout out to all wonderful parents for volunteering in our classroom.  It takes teamwork to be successful!
