Presidential Wax Museum was the best we have EVER done

We thank all of you for your participation in our Presidential Wax Museum.  The enthusiasm of the children and their families spoke for itself.  Once again, we have successfully enjoyed another classroom learning experience.
With gratitude,

Thank you and Save the Date!

Dear Wonderful Parents,

Thank you for being part of your child's education.  I enjoyed meeting with all of you and know that you appreciated seeing their daily work.  This was the last parent teacher conference and I look forward to a healthy, productive rest of the school year.

You are invited to attend our Presidential Wax Museum @ 10:00 on Wednesday, February 18, in our classroom.  Their presentation is due on Tuesday, February 17.  There is no school on Monday, the 16, as we celebrate President's Day.  When we return on Tuesday, they will be prepared to turn in their report and present to the class.  Wednesday, after library, you will be joining us from 10-11 to listen to their speeches.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Once again, thank you for all you do.

We look forward to seeing you,

Ms. Silver and Mrs. Gina

January News

Dear Parents,

I am sending this letter so that any questions you have may be addressed.

Happy New Year!  With January comes new assessments, new spelling words, testing, and many new and exciting works.  I did not assign homework the first week, but did send it home on Friday, Jan. 16.  It is not due on Tuesday but the following Monday, Jan.26.  Rather than give you a shortened time period to do it, I took MLK day into consideration and gave you an extra three days to complete it.  Hope this helps to get the New Year off to a good start!

I spent the first few weeks re-assessing reading, spelling, math, and writing skills.  Your children are, once again, working eagerly and try to meet their goals.  They may have told you that we have elected class officers and are focusing on rights, responsibility, and independence.  We had Galileo testing last week and next week we will begin Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Spelling lists went home on Friday (with their homework).  Students may have moved ahead, stayed the same, or gone back a group.  They are not aware as I am naming the groups by color.  Your lists were not marked as everyone will start at the first level in their group.  That way, they can learn more while feeling good about themselves.

If you haven't already done so, please sign up on line at volunteer spot for your conference.  Thank you.

Our Presidential Wax Museum information packet went home with the children as well as electronically.  Children are excited and enthusiastic.  Their person was selected democratically by randomly reaching into a basket.  I encourage you to assist them in this project as they need to read, write, memorize, and accessorize their costumes.  It is due Feb. 17.  Please make sure you have the information and do not wait until the day before to ask me for another copy.

Many thanks for blessing us with your wonderful children!  If you have any questions please feel free to e mail me and I will get back to you the next day, at the latest.

I look forward to seeing you at conferences,

Ms. Silver
